National CEO Network is developing its first board to oversee its Community Initiatives. This board will have the power to determine the NCN community initiative agenda, events, partners and sponsors. The board's responsibility is to create and execute the mission and purpose that articulates the organizations goals, means and primary constituents served. Other responsibilities include:
- Ensure effective planning -- actively participate in overall planning process and assist in implementing and monitoring the plan's goals.
- Monitor & Strenghten programs and planning -- determine which programs are consistent with the organization's mission and monitor their effectiveness.
- Ensure adequate financial resources -- secure adequate resources for the organization to fulfill its mission
- Protect assets and provide proper financial oversight -- assist in develping the annual budget and ensuring the proper financial controls are in place
- Build a competent board -- articulate prerequisites for candidates, orient new members, and periodically and comprehensively evaluate their own performance.
- Ensure legal and ethnical integrity -- adherence to legal standards and ethnical norms
- Enhance the organization's public standing -- clearly articulate the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.
